This layout was for a business that some friends and I were going to start, but we ended up having cash-flow issues, no surprise even though we had a rock-solid business plan, realistic projections, etc... The economy is crap right now, and banks aren't giving out SBA start-up loans without collateral. So, this one goes to the back-burner... Maybe one day. For now, I think a software company is a pretty good fallback.

"Druid City Books & Coffee will consist of a cafe/coffeehouse and bookstore, with the cafe and coffeehouse serving as the primary source of revenue for the business. The bookstore will generate revenue, but its chief function is to provide atmosphere, build a connection with the community, and drive traffic to the cafe. The business will open early in the morning for breakfast and will close at midnight or later, depending on demand."
-via http://druidcitybooks.com/
This is currently a work in progress.

I'm waiting on more content and a few more images, but it's mostly done.

I went for a clean, fast, minimalistic approach since it's just a very simple informational site about the lab.

White, since that's the color commonly associated with laboratories and cleanliness, and the green the color of UAB's logo and such.

Anyway, suggestions are greatly welcomed.
I did a logo and layout for this guy. It's a non-profit organization, so I was really reluctant to accept, as he can't pay me much if anything. He sent me some posters of his paintings in exchange for this logo and website design. I won't post the design here since in the end the deal didn't work out, but I'll post the logo and header image for the website though. He needs me to add content and maintain it, and I just can't. That's not what I do. I've already set him up with a CMS and the layout is done, but he's used to Frontpage. Later we may work something else out though.

You can actually see some screenshots of me working on this here.

I got bored this afternoon and took a shot of myself in my favorite shirt. I played with it for a while in GIMP, and this is the outcome. I really like the effect. I'm using this as my avatar now.
I did this layout around Christmas of '06 out of boredom. I really really like the outcome, and as of the time of writing this, this is the layout I'm currently using. With this layout, I also finished my CMS and it is what powers this site. No, you cannot have the source, don't ask. No, I will not help you write your own, don't ask. Use Google and PHP.net.

The inspiration for this layout was a previous layout that I did. I took the simplistic square idea and gave it a twist. This layout is fully fluid to a certain point. As you resize your text, the whole layout resizes. If you shrink your browser window, the layout should also resize to fit. However, if you have a high resolution, it won't be 100% width for aesthetic reasons.
There's this ongoing joke that I'm a communist hippie because I had long hair, a beard, and I use Linux. I took that, twisted it, and used it as inspiration for a layout. I never did use this idea in the end, but I did use the simplicity idea for the next layout I did.
Up until a few months ago, I was using my bonsai layout. The main focus of it was the bonsai tree that I drew. After almost a year I got tired of that layout, and trashed it. I decided to bring the bonsai back in a new form, and this was the result. I don't think I ever did use this layout, but I took the [linux]init idea into a new form in a later layout. The colours in the logo just clashed too much and overall, I was disappointed with the outcome.
Last Spring I did this layout. I only used it for a few weeks before I got tired of it. I go through phases where I'll do like 10 website layouts in like a month. Anyways, the sidebar buttons and such had hover effects and then you clicked on a recent comment, the grey box slid down and showed the comment. I think I used the moo.fx javascript toolkit for the sliding effect.

A while ago, on some random forum, somebody was bitching about how you can't make a graphical layout with CSS. As an example, they posted a link to some flash site that was layed out like a desk.

I shall not be incorrect, so I set about to prove them wrong. This is the outcome. It's probably not really usable in the real world unless you have lots of bandwidth and don't mind pissing off dialup users. But it IS possible with CSS.
